tom95521 Posted October 14, 2020 Report Posted October 14, 2020 https://9to5mac.com/2020/10/12/apple-a14-chip-details-interview/ The 64 bit A14 SOC has 11.8 Billion transistors and uses a 5nm process. My first 8 bit CPU (Z80) had 10K transistors and used a 5 um process. That's 1 million times the number of transistors in a die size one thousand times more condense in just 45 years. Although I really like AMD Ryzen CPUs It will be hard to resist a new Mac Mini or Macbook with the A14. Tom Quote
Igor Posted November 2, 2020 Report Posted November 2, 2020 We just finished a native code of PTE AV Studio for future Macs with Apple Silicon CPU. Encoding of 1080p MP4 video using CPU works much faster on Mac with Apple Silicon than my Windows based PC with Intel Core i5-7400 3.0 GHz. Much faster than my iMac with Intel CPU. New Apple's CPU is an absolute winner in speed. No noise and cool. Amazing results. And it's only A12Z CPU, new official Apple Silicon for Macbook and iMac should be even better. Quote
