In Timeline view just put 2 clips on the same track & drag one onto the other so they overlap for the time you require.

Very easy.

Going from 6.5 to 10 is a massive leap though

It’s also worth mentioning as an aside, the quick way of fading in and fading out, because not everyone is aware of it. 

While you are in the Timeline view that Jill has referred to, look for the two little black triangles at the top of each end of the waveform, and try dragging them sideways to create fade in and fade out. 
(Not sure whether it is both versions of PT AV - maybe someone else can confirm that).

the Fade In\Fade Out sliders along with the Volume control line are only available in the Pro version of PTE.

With the Studio version you can adjust Fade In \Fade Out in the Audio Tab - double click the waveform
