eab
Been lurking for a while, but now I have a problem that I need to post...I'm using version 4.30. Decided to try out the screen saver option. I thought I had all the bases covered -- I selected "create screen saver" and checked the "repeat show until ESC is pressed", but something is still wrong. The screen saver is created and runs, but just once. The slide show ends, waits the appropriate delay time, and only then begins again. I was expecting a contunuous loop.Any idea what I'm missing? Thanks tons. I appreciate the help! And yes, I did a search prior to posting.

Guest guru
Welcome, Eab!Just made some checks now, with 4.32 - All runs correctly in looping mode. Maybe have you added some sound?BTW, what means "The slide show ends, waits the appropriate delay time, and only then begins again"?

Maybe I'll try that.Yes, I do have a song that plays for the duration of the slide show. Does that matter? What I meant by the quoted item is that if my machine has 5 minutes of inactivity set for when the screen saver turns on, here's what happens. 5 minutes goes by, my screen saver plays, then another 5 minutes goes by before it plays again. I expect that a screen saver would play continuously. No?
David (UK)
Eab!Just tested it on my system - does exactly as you say..... Screen saver kicks in, plays through, stops and awaits "Screen Saver Delay", then kicks in again. It's probably designed to do it that way.David (UK)

That's how all the windows screen savers work.
Guest guru
I have made several new tests, with sound and also with synchronized sound, but I cannot reproduce your issue.I would like to send you a "minimal" .scr I made (with sound), to see how it runs on your machine. If you have a fast enough connection, its size is 794 KB. I can also upload it on a site, and give you the exact address to download. It wasn't obvious, but now that I see it, it makes total sense. Under the Screen options, I had the box to "show transition effect to desktop after last slide" checked. Once I unchecked that, it works as expected.Sorry for not figuring this out sooner, and thanks for the effort!Eileen
Igor
Thank you all for exploring this interesting moment!PTE automatically sets "Exit after last slide" option, if you enable this "Show transition effect to desktop after last slide" option.I'll turn off this automatical enabling in case of screen saver. I won't get tripped up by this again, but perhaps others will. Fixing it would be awesome!
