cici Posted January 16, 2005 Report Posted January 16, 2005 Actually I’ve prepared two shows: I like very much this show but behind the pretentious title of “the marks of Time” hide just pictures about rot of flowers and trees. And to have me forgiven for the low interest of these pictures I prepared a second show with more interesting ones (about a World Heritage). This second show will be put on line as soon as I have an extension to my web space.[/quoteHere it is and you can find here Quote
JPD Posted January 17, 2005 Report Posted January 17, 2005 Very nice show Sam, I really enjoyed it. Quote
LumenLux Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Yes Sam, your quality work shows again. It does look like a beautiful location that you had to capture and exhibit. And you did an excellent job of that. Can you tell me, does this presentation also make extensive use of transparent gif's. (That is a subject I still don't know much about.) Quote
cici Posted January 19, 2005 Author Report Posted January 19, 2005 Hi Robert, thank you for your appreciation. No, I did not make extensive uuse of transparent Gif, but only a few ones the position os which I could easyly fix. You know the problem about non fixed objects when reading the show at a different resolution than your.I do not work with Phtoshop (though I've a copy of it ; PS 7) but I(ve the opinion taht making Transparent Gif with this software it is not very simple.I make my Gifs with Microsof Photo Editor which is part of Windows Operating system. It was present in my old Win 98, and I'm happy to have found it in Windows XP Home. (See Microsoft Office Tools) ? But I'm not sur it exists in Windows XP ProIf you have, try it.Anyway, don't hesitate to ask me by mail but if you put the topic in the forum, for sur you'llreceive an answer from JPD who has a very deep knowledge of PTE and is a specialist on Transparent GifsThank You again Quote
alrobin Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Sam,I enjoyed your show too. It is obvious that lots of work went into it.Transparent GIF's in Photoshop 7 are as easy as jpegs. Just use the "Save for web" feature, and select "GIF" mode. You can then click on the shades of colour you want to make transparent, too, for added control over the result. Click on one of the small coloured boxes, and then click on the "X" box at the bottom of the Colour Table. Any of the small boxes in the Colour Table marked with an X will be transparent in the result. You can also preview the result in the "Optimized" window on the left hand side.I find that the following settings work best for me:GIFSelectiveDiffusioncheck "Transparency"Diffusion Transparency Dither Quote
cici Posted January 19, 2005 Author Report Posted January 19, 2005 Hi Al,glad You enjoyed my show. Now I know how to do transparent Gifs even in Photoshop.I made one in photoshop with your settings and one in Microsoft Photo Editor choosing 25% opaque and the result was quite the same, but is I choose 100% opaque the difference in quality is very high in favour ofMPE. Of course, everything is depending on what you want to do. Quote
DaveG Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 GIF is not the only transparent image option.Depending on your application the PNG24 format is perhaps a better option from the "save for web" dialogue. There are no choices to make! The down side is that the files are larger.I now use this format almost exclusively for transparent images in Powerpoint Presentations but would agree that the file size makes it perhaps a non starter for PTE.DaveG Quote
cici Posted January 21, 2005 Author Report Posted January 21, 2005 Hi DavePNG24 format can not be open in PTE Quote
DaveG Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Hi Cici,Neither can a transparent GIF (other than in OBJECT Editor) - unless I am mistaken.Apologies, I was merely making the point that as far as Transparent images go GIF was not the only option. We can even produce transparent TIFs these days.I do all of that sort of manipulation in PS so the need for GIF or PNG does not arise very often. But on those occasions when it does (Powerpoint etc) I find that PNG is the better option.DaveG Quote
Michel Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Very nice shows, cici, as always !By the way:You know the problem about non fixed objects when reading the show at a different resolution than yourDo you use sometimes the function "Group" ( + center + windowed mode) in the objects editor ?It's a very interesting soluce in this moment, waiting for a future auto-rescalling: and very easy to use, simply with PTE and the screen display speed remains fast. And you are right to remember it here too.By the way, thank you for your appreciation about Manneken Pis: this show, any ways, is just a describing one and its composition has few in common with my favourite:» Colours” (new version with digital pictures) - “Les Marques du temps – Le Rêve d’une guêpe”(downloadable from this page Quote
