Hi,

New to board but not new to PTE !

I make presentations with images and music but when they are high quality images from my Coolpix camera, the final presentations (3.5 mins long, 18 slides) are huge.

Can anyone tell me how to make them smaller ?

What's the best image type ? JPEG? TIFF ?

Also, what number of pixels is optimal for showing ona 14 inch screen - I guess I may have overkill !

Thanks for any advice,

Nujja

the best image is a tiff BUT for p2e shows jpgs saved at 75 to 80% compression seems to work well for most users/views

so resave your tiffs as jpegs -- i use Irfanview for this

see

http://www.irfanview.com/english.htm

make sure you get the plugins as well

irfanview will do a multitude of things

so if you open a tif, give it one or clicks on the sharpen feature - resize it to 640/480 or 800/600, then do a "save as" as a jpg -- the resulting slide will be <100kb

Hi Nujja,

As Ken said, 640x480 is the best for your screen, even for bigger. Your images should be about 50 kb each. If they are still much over, make new ones with "Photoshop" or similar where you can save them in small size. If you are not going to print from the show, you can compress them much more cause the eye don't see the differnce.
