Big Kev
Thanks for the reply Ken (and Igor)!I made a test sequence up in Pics to Exe and then went to the create video box, selected DVD-Video Disc, then PAL/Secam, then pressed the create AV1 button. The box came up reminding me not to press the 'Finish' button and to open the file within my authoring program.I opened DVD X Maker and selected new project - it the asked me to select the AV1 files I wanted.I selected the AV1 file and it tried to open it but came back with'Vid type AV1 (PAL not valid here)' and the 'Trim' and 'Add' buttons were greyed out.The program is from 321 Studios.Anybody else ever used this program? RNB
"DVD X Maker" used to be called "Dazzle DVD Complete." Dvd X Maker even recognise DVD Complete files. Pinnacle bought Dazzle and all but eliminated DVD Complete, which I have. Neither one of these DVD Authoring programs are supported anymore. 321 Studios has been closed for months now. However, I read somewhere that 321 Studios plan on developing this software further, in the future. Anyhow, to answer your question... This is what I have from DVD Complete help:IntroductionDVD Complete™ has been written to support as many graphic, video, and audio formats as possible. Below are a list of these formats. Supported Video FormatsMPEG-2 Elementary Video (*.m2v, et al.)stream must be at most 8 Megabits per second to leave room for audio streams on DVD sequence headers must be on every GOP to allow random video access Standard DVD Compliant restrictions on MPEG2 encoded content must be followed the video must be one of the following sizes/rates NTSC 720x480 or 352x240 at 29.97fps PAL 720x576 or 352x288 at 25fps Other DVD Compliant formats will be re-encoded to one of those 4 resolutions. AVIvarious formats are supported as long as proper codecs installed the video must be one of the following sizes/rates NTSC 720x480 or 352x240 at 29.97fps (auto conversion from 30fps applied if necessary) PAL 720x576 or 352x288 at 25fps MPEG2 Program StreamsVideo: Same restrictions as MPEG2 Elementary (see above) Audio: Same restrictions as MPEG Layer II audio (see below) MPEG1 Program Streams FOR USE ON DVDVideo: NTSC 352x240 at 29.97fps / PAL 352x288 at 25fps + standard DVD restrictions Sequence Headers are required for Random video access but will be added if necessary Audio: 48Khz MPEG 1 Layer II audio + standard DVD restrictions. Audio rate will be converted if necessary. MPEG1 Program Streams FOR USE ON VCD ONLYVideo: NTSC 352x240 at 29.97fps / PAL 352x288 at 25fps + standard VCD restrictions Audio: 44.1Khz MPEG 1 Layer II audio + standard VCD restrictions Supported Audio FormatsMPEG 1 Layer IImust be 48Khz Stereo must be constant bitrate at most 384Kilobits per second standard DVD restrictions on MPEG audioPCM (WAV)must be 16bit 48Khz Stereo. will convert from other WAV bit rates/frequencies/mono to the above if necessary MP3will convert to one of the two formats above for use as menu or movie audio I suppose if the Format / FPS is correct it should accept the PTE .avi file. I haven't had to make any PAL Video yet, myself. So I haven't tested it for PAL.
FarleyBen
Hi Big kev,I'm no expert, however if the posts above don't fix your problem I guess you are looking at alternative software to transcode and write to your DVD burner. I recently purchased Sonics My DVD Studio Deluxe 6.1 which does the trick although at £75 I thought it a bit steep. There are bound to be other software packages that do the business, prior to my last purchase I used PowerProducer Gold with reasonable results, this software came with my burner.Another link you might want to try at $40 or thereabouts, is www.realconvert.com, but I can't vouch for this shareware product.Regards,TC
