lara
I encountered a problem with burning SVCD after making AVI file. I made my slide show with music. The size was 40 mb. Then I clicked Video, Create AVI. I saved it in my music. After that the size was 105 mb. Is that right or something wrong happened already on this step? I tried to burn CD in Real Player and Windows Media Player, but these programs write that my file is unsupported and they cannot burn CD. Then I opened Ulead Burn Now, tried to find my slide show and could not. For example, I open My Music in Ulead program and this file does not exist. I tried to search it, but the situation is the same. The program writes that the file does not exist. Only in Edit CD option I could find my file. I dragged it and clicked Burn. After I tried to open CD and could not. Could somebody explain to me what my problem is and how to burn CD?

tandnkeller
Hello:I'm brand new to PTE (but love the program so far). I've made a slide show with music and would like to share it with friends/family. I've tried to follow the AVI tutorial; I've read the forum messages on "problems creating a CD" (I don't have a DVD writer)... but I'm still lost.Do I need some other program?I've tried copying the presentation from my hard drive to a CD. That works, EXCEPT that my music didn't come with it and the transitions are randomized (vs. what I created)...Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks,Naomi
Ken Cox
Naomi welcome to the forumyou are first going to have to tell us what cd authoring program you haveyou have already told us you do not have a dvd burnerbut you say you got something to a cdwhat proggie did you useif you do not have a dvd burner the minimum you will be able to make is a vcd which will not be as sharp as was on your monitor but will be satisfactory -- years ago graphic card companies used to include a vcd with their software to show what their graphic card was capable of -- i still have one that ATI issued - "the eagle has landed - the journey of Apollo II" plays beautiful on the tv with my home dvd playernow if your family members have computor's you will be able to burn the show's exe to a cd and they will be able to play ita further word of advice -- if you go the exe route to cd, have them copy and paste it from the cd to the desk top - it will run better give us more info on your system -- hardware and softwareken
tandnkeller
Hi Ken:Thanks SO much for the help! (I've read many of your posts -- you're a great resource!!!).OK, don't laugh, but...Yeah, I don't know what program I have to burn CDs. (I said not to laugh). My operating system is Windows XP (professional version -- they'll probably want to take that back now!).All I did was copy my .exe file from my external drive to my CD drive... it worked, kinda. The slide show copied, but the music didn't nor did the customized transitions.I plan on having my friends/family just play this on their computors (not DVDs/TVs)...A million thanks in advance for your help!!Naomi
tandnkeller
Ken --One more thing... it looks like I can e:mail the file to friends -- but then they need to download a program to open/play the slideshow. Do they have to pay the $24 to buy the PTE software? Many, many thanks.Naomi
Ken Cox
if you email the exe they can only play it on a computeri would suggest you get a local expert to show you what you haveor go here and get a free program that will analyze your system and tell you what you haveif you still do not know, then send the belarc results to me and i will tell you http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Guest Techman1
Naomi,Your friends and family do not need to purchase the license to PTE (although Igor always appreciates more money). The beauty of PTE is that you should be able to create a slideshow that is saved as a Executable Program (myslideshow.EXE) that is playable on any Windows based PC. So as Ken has advised, once you find out how to save this .EXE onto your CD, it should play on anyones PC with music and the proper transitions.Try dropping the .EXE onto your CD drive again with a new CD-R in your drive. Windows XP should prompt you to write/save the file to CD.Otherwise, try what Ken suggested and let us know what CD Burning software you have loaded on your PC and I'm sure someone here has the same thing and can advise.Good luck!Fredp.s. - Welcome to the forum

tandnkeller
YIPPEE!!!Thanks Ken/Fred -- just "moved" the file from my :F drive to the CD drive -- and just like Fred said, it prompted me to save the file (through CD Wizard). And (keep your fingers crossed) it seemed to work!!!! I'm going to try it on my husband's laptop tonight to make sure it plays on a computer that hasn't played it already... but I'm feeling very optimistic!!You guys are the best!OK, and I know I shouldn't push my luck, but...Do you know any way to e:mail the file?A million and one thanks!naomi
tandnkeller
Holy cow. I knew that I was computer illiterate, but I didn't realize just how stupid I was! OK, don't laugh, but I figured out what I was doing wrong. Can't believe it (yeah, I had only created the slideshow using "preview"... I never actually "saved" it as an .exe file).I'm SO sorry for all of the confusion. I can't believe how dumb I was! But now I can share my pix...Don't hold it against me! You guys were unbelievably helpful!Take care,Signed Clueless and Embarrassed!
