During working at the timeline you have to save the changes regurlary. When you do so the first time the file is named (in my case) Flora.pte which is correct. The existing file is changed  into Flora.pte.bak which is correct.

The next time you saved the file both files are named Flora.pte.bak; suppose both files name ..bak are true copies.

When you the next time saves one of the bak files are saves as Flora.pte and the other remains ..bak.

Example:

Flora-lock                   o.k.

Flora.pte.bak              in stead of Flora.pte

Flora.pte.bak              o.k.

I have the option make a back-up file actived.

I am not sure of this is a real problem os only a name-problem

I tried an other way but when you put a slide or make a change the above signalised problem didn´t occur.

I had the problem when I doubleclicked a slide in the timeline, opens with transitions and you close with "OK". Then this alternate behavior occurs.

Sorry, I'm not sure that I rightly understood your question and described problem.

I checked the code. On every Save Project command, PTE AV Studio performs the following simple steps:

1. An old .bak file is being deleted (if existed).

2. Existing ProjectName.pte file is being renamed to ProjectName.pte.bak

3. Saving a new ProjectName.pte file.

P.S. Note that user shouldn't rewrite .pte.bak file directly (by replacing .bak file manually), it breaks steps described above.

My video was not clear enought.

This is the correct description:

Assume you open a PTE project named GEROME.pte

PTE creates a dummy file named GEROME.lok wich indicates to Windows that the project is being modified.

Assume you modify the project and save it without changing the name.

PTE renames the original file GEROME.pte.bak and creates a new file named GEROME.pte

Whem you close the project, PTE deletes the lock file.

I attached two file to describe my situation.

The first file shows the files before start;

after start the lock-file pops up just like Tonton Bruno shows in his film;

Changing one issue in de open PTE-file makes the save icon blue,

Save the file by clicking on that icon and you get the situation as showed in my second file.

However closing the PTE-file makes the first pte-file rename to filename.pte and the filename.pte.bak stays in place. Note that the .bak-file must be the original from yesterday according to the timestamp.

I tried to make my situation clear.  BTW I am not sure if it is a real problem because after saving again the not really bak-file is again renamed to the .pte-file.

Thanks for reading,

After looking again to file number two that according to the timestamp it should be a copy of the original .bak file with the same data. After closing the program the first .bak file is replaced by a real .pte file. see my third file.
