ChesterFox
I was sent a PTE slideshow on a CD and the original images were destroyed, so this CD is all I have left. The images are precious to me. Is there a way to get into the PTE slideshow and access the images as JPEGs again?
boxig
Look for "RestorePTE" utility on this URL.. It is a freeware but donations are welcomed.
ChesterFox
Thanks for the URL, but I do not know how to use the download. Can you advise?
boxig
There is "Readme.txt" inside the zip and each button has a description on mouseover.
ChesterFox
i did a drag-n-drop of the ".exe" file into the stuffit expander, but it did not recognize the file format
ContaxMan
If the file is .exe, all you need to do is double-click on it to make it run.
ronwil
.................or single click if you have your mouse set up that way. That is the way that I have my mouse set. If I double click the sequence runs but I have two sets of background running like an echo. Ron [uK]
ChesterFox
The solution that was first sent of the PTE Restore, allows me to take screen shots as I go through the slideshow, but does anyone know how i can actually take the PTE ".exe" slideshow and retrieve the images that are contained on the CD? There are 114 MB of pictures (approximately 200 pictures).
JRR
Chesterfox:Boxig's utility is the only solution that has come whenever this topic has been raised in the past
Guest Techman1
Chesterfox,As Jim said, I believe that is the only solution. At least you still have them in a slideshow format. Be sure and make a copy of that. How were the original images destroyed? No backup?Fred
Ken Cox
hate to say it but as quoted from a joke that routinely circulatesJesus and Satan have a discussion as to who is the better programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they come to an agreement to hold a contest, with God as the judge. They sit themselves at their computers and begin. They type furiously, lines of code streaming up the screen, for several hours straight. Seconds before the end of the competition, a bolt of lightning strikes, taking out the electricity. Moments later, the power is restored, and God announces that the contest is over. He asks Satan to show what he has come up with. Satan is visibly upset, and cries, "I have nothing. I lost it all when the power went out." "Very well, then," says God, "let us see if Jesus fared any better." Jesus enters a command, and the screen comes to life in vivid display, the voices of an angelic choir pour forth from the speakers. Satan is astonished. He stutters, "B-b-but how? I lost everything, yet Jesus' program is intact. How did he do it?" God smiled all-knowingly, "Jesus saves."ken
