tom95521 Posted July 9, 2023 Report Posted July 9, 2023 While testing some Google fonts I noticed that many do not include bold versions. When the bold option is enabled PTE does a font substitution. If possible create a synthetic bold version of the font like Boxy SVG does. I think Photoshop has Faux Bold option too. Many graphic editors just have regular font with bold disabled. Also the font rendering on Festive looks different. Examples from herehttps://fonts.google.com/?category=Handwriting Thanks, Tom Mac Ventura 13.4.1 PTE AV Studio 11 Pro 11.0.6 (Apple Silicon) Quote
Igor Posted July 10, 2023 Report Posted July 10, 2023 Hi Tom, Thanks, I'll check these fonts on our Mac. Quote
tom95521 Posted July 10, 2023 Author Report Posted July 10, 2023 Hi Igor, Thanks. Font substitution also happens with Italics. Tom Quote
Igor Posted July 11, 2023 Report Posted July 11, 2023 Hi Tom, I checked these Google fonts. Windows automatically creates synthetic bold and italic variants, and it works even in PTE. macOS provides only regular version of these fonts. Regrettably it's not simple task to create a bold variant of a font. It would take a lot of time for our team. Maybe Apple will perform this task in future update(s) of macOS? Quote
tom95521 Posted July 11, 2023 Author Report Posted July 11, 2023 Hi Igor, I can use my Windows PC when I need to make a bold cursive fonts. I did find a possible API that I will send by DM. Thanks, Tom Quote
