stonemason Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I have done several searches in all forums to learn about the effects of smoothing line thickness. Although the default is 60 some say this has no effect on fade transitions. Can someone please clarify if the thickness should be left at 60 or set to 0 for fade transitions please? Quote
Severn Bore Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 The smoothing line has an effect on those transitions, such as the hour hand, page, etc where there is a distinct demarcation line that moves across the picture as it is replaced by the new one. If you increase the setting dramatically - say, to 500 - you will see that the "line" becomes extremely blurred; almost to the extent that the transition effect is almost lost. You will not see any difference if the smoothing line is changed when applied to the fade transition because there is no demarcation line where the new picture replaces the previous one.Hope this helps.Severn Bore Quote
stonemason Posted November 15, 2005 Author Report Posted November 15, 2005 Thanks Severn Bore does this then mean it's best to set the value to 0 for fade transitions? Quote
denwell Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 No - I would leave it at the default value of 60, it has no effect at all on a fade. Some good transitions can be made with a high value (300+) for say a wipe which seems to be very smooth, however a 0 value gives a hard edge transition to a wipe or gates etc - also very effective. It's 'horses for courses' with this one !DEN (NE UK) Quote
