Boogie
I am back on the subject of Autorun on a CD.I have followed the instruction in the PTE help file, ie [autorun]open=my show.exeicon=my show.exeSaved as autorun.inf and copied with my show.exe file on to the CD.When I put the CD in the computer expecting the show to start directly, up pops Windows dialogue box requesting "What do you want to do with this CD,etc"I have read various threads on the forum, but they don't seem to refer to this problem.Any suggestions would be appreciated.RM
boxig
This free program can help you: "Autorun.inf Maker - v.6.0"It will generate advanced "autorun.inf" file for CD.It has also a big Help file explaining about autorun.Download from this page. Ken Cox
autorunwhat if the program on the cd has big old virus and you are set up to autorun?ken
Boogie
KenI take your point. Are you inferring that the computer (Window XP) can be "set up to autorun" CD's or not.If so, where are the settings? Is that the reason why the simple autorun method that I tried, did not work?RegardsRM
Hawk
BoogieYou show as open=my show.exeicon=my show.exeWith a space between " my show ".I believe you cannot have any spaces. If this is the way you have it - you may want to try with an underscore ( _ )[autorun]open=my_show.exeicon=my_show.exeYour PTE show saved file name will have to match - rename to ( my_show.exe )
Ken Cox
seehttp://www.phdcc.com/shellrun/autorun.htmhttp://www.ezau.com/latest/articles/autorun.shtmlhttp://www.timeless.co.zw/soft_cdarfaq.cfmhttp://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....t=0entry21434http://www.msfn.org/comments.php?catid=2&id=10497dont want autorunseehttp://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/1347there are too many people that want the computer to do all their thinking, i do not, therefore one of the first things i do is disable auto run - I prefer thinking for myself and i do not want something taking over my system -- i get in enough trouble doing things my way A temp work around is hold down the SHIFT key till the cd mounts. This will stop it from auto starting. ken
