KyDan
I know this has been covered-- believe me I've read and triedto understand the provided links.I have specific questions I think. For reasons unknown to me my @#$% home DVD player won't play DVDs that I make on my computer. They play wonderfully at my son's house.I made an SVCD of the same presentation and it DOES play at my home!!Now I've upped the ante so to speak.I have created a presentation of some old friends past parties and get togethers. Some of them are no longer with us I would like to create 1 CD (or many copies of this one)that contains SVCD presentationEXE fileauto run filethis way hopefully they will have the option to watch their diskon computer or TV.Here -at last- is my question.Right this moment on my PC I haveUlead DVD MovieFactory Studio Suite DeluxeNero Express. Will I be able to burn my SVCD using what I have now?It seems to me that U-lead won't let me drag in the other 2 files.(auto run and EXE)I don't know if Nero Express will either but Nero Express says it won't burn SVCD without an add on(upgrade) unless it's mpeg-2 format. Can I use P2E to create a MPEG-2 file??If I need Nero burning ROM to do this, which version (how new)must I have. Thanks for any info you can give me. Ken Cox
Danmany dvd players will not play svcd'sbut will play vcd's and dvd'smany moons [win98 era] ago graphic card mfg's -- in their bundle of software would throw in a vcd disk to show you what their card would doseehttp://www.videohelp.com/vcdand see if your player is compatiblehttp://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayersof my 8 dvd players, only 3 of them will play svcdin the early days of p2e being able to make the avi/vid file it was very frustrating in the learning process to not be able to play the svcd one mademixed disk seehttp://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4136but if you are going to try a dvd you must use a dvd diskken
KyDan
I've tried in vain all weekend to get this to work. No go.I'm going to aquire Nero 6 and try it that way.At this point I'll gladly settle for either aDVD or VCD with my video and EXE file on there. At least I know how to make DVD or SVCD or VCDas I've created plenty of them in my experiments. Thanks for the heads up on the SVCD.I'm just trying to make one disk that will be the mostplayable for my friends.I imagine most of them have DVD players and computers.I know the EXE file gives best quality if only one or 2 want to watch. If you have a room full of old friends they will more easily fit infront of the TV. This is why I'm trying so hard to make a diskwork both ways.As always it's wonderful to have helpful folks to ask questions of!Peace!!Dan D. KyDan
Danmake a separate disk for the vcdand then make a separate file disk for the exeKen, my son came over last night and informed me I alreadyhave Nero 6 on my PC!! How embarrassing....Can't wait to get home this afternoon and waste some more disks Of course if I fail in all attempts I will burn multiple copies of DVDand separate CDs containing the exe version.I've been reading the suggested threads "again" and sure wouldlike to get them all on one disk eventually, either VCD or DVD.If I weren't doing this I'd just be mowing the lawn or some other gainfulendeavor.... I still can't do this.....I tried Nero v6 yesterday.ANY time I try to burn either VCD or DVD and includethe exe & ini file the program promptly respondsthat those files aren't video files and refuses to include them.I can burn VCD and DVD all day but cannot figure out how toinclude the exe and/or autostart.ini file.Any clues what I am missing? KyDan
make a file disk on a dvdadd the exeadd the video_ts folder that you have saved to the hardrivekenSo you are saying I'm not burning a DVD.I am creating a "data disk" on a DVD blank. When I open Nero I don't click "create DVD" but rather I choosesome other option ( the program is at home, I'm at work....)that will let me burn data files onto the DVD blank? And the video_ts folder is created how?with which program.(I'm not file ignorant. I've been copying moving renaming and manipulatingfiles since the days of DOS 2.1)I'm just ignorant about these @#$%^! video files....Thanks for your patience!Dan D. KyDan
Al or anyone listening.....I've been re-reading the threads on this subject.Al said-> Once the DVD has been "burned", then you can copy other files onto it using your DVD disk drive. However, the "autorun" feature might cause problems as it might conflict with the autorun capability inherent in the video files on the DVD. Also, as Ken says, the DVD would only be viewable in a DVD player (for the video files), and/or a DVD drive on a pc (for the PTE files). If I am reading this correctly, you are saying to create a normal DVD video of my show.Actually burn the disk. Even watch the disk on my TV DVD player. Then add the exe and ini file to this already completed DVD disk???Seems like I tried that back a few days..... once I'd burned the DVD show my computersays that disk is full and I cannot add any more. Maybe I'm wrong about that, I will try again.

alrobin
Dan,It should be easy to tell if the DVD is full or not.If there is room for more data, but your pc says it is full, then perhaps it has closed it off and you may have to try a different way to burn it.Try creating the "TS" files and folders into a single folder (directory) on your HD first, put the ".exe" and "autorun" files in the same folder (directory), and then burn everything in that folder (directory) onto the DVD in a single "session", or operation.
