Brisbane City Hall was opened in 1930 by Queensland Governor (Sir John Goodwin). The building was officially opened on 8 April 1930 by Lord Mayor of Brisbane William Jolly. However it had been partially occupied since 1927.

Building City Hall was a major undertaking for our city in the 1920s, taking 10 years to build at a cost of almost one million pounds.

During World War II, Brisbane City Hall played an integral part of the Australian war defence process. For more information see https://www.ww2places.qld.gov.au/place?id=164#:~:text=History,surrounding town and shire councils.

Today, Brisbane City Hall remains the largest city hall in Australia. It covers two acres and comprises 573 rooms and spaces including the Lord Mayor's office, Council Chambers and Museum of Brisbane. Thank you. What a work of art the hall is. It is also good to see how others present slideshows of buildings. Great job and thanks for sharing.
