Hello..

I want to try and clear up a issue about some of you are having trouble with music.

For instance..if you have Windows 98 and want to install Window XP(home or Pro),

Window ME(the most lame OS to date) there is two files that are very demanding for

Window OS's to "see" what is going on within any 32 bit software. The files are:

msgsrv32.exe or msgsrv32.dll

These files are installed when you install a clean Windows OS.

When you upgrade to another Windows OS, these files will not be overwritten

and then this might be your problem!

You have and older version of these file trying to run with the newer OS!

Some problems that are related to msgsrv32.exe or msgsrv32.dll:

  • Resource conflict or issue
  • TSR's or other running programs
  • Sound driver or sound card issues
  • Onboard sound or video issue
  • MIDI device or codec issues
  • MP3 codec issues
  • Memory manager being used
  • Bad hardware
  • The blue screen you see on Windows 95 and 98

Bottom line:

Never "upgrade" (B Gates makes this possible, because these come out before the full version..so

the public can go get a "hands on"and try)...get the full version of an OS and do a clean

install and ALWAYS have a copy of your programs/softwares so you can have them running

smoothly with the new OS.

Another is codecs..

If you have alot of these, they tend to conflict with each other!

Try to keep your codecs to a minimum and the ones you really need!

Good luck and hope this helps!! :)

Bart,

How true are your words! I, like you, feel that most of the problems and complaints about PTE have to do with OS upgrades and background programs running, with a good helping of not enough horsepower in the computer system being used. Again you prove how accurate and truly wise you are. Did I score any points :) . All kidding aside, I think your pointing out a big source of problems people are having.
