Lin Evans Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 John,How big is your demo ?If it's less than 2 Mb, you can upload it on my site : http://thefreedom.free.fr/share(you need to register first for being allowed to upload ).If you file is bigger than 2 Mb (but less than 10 Mb), you can send it to me and I will upload it on my site for you if you want.If you're interested, send me an email and I will give you my email address.Speaking of my site, the process is very long to upload files on it (especially to find links and explanations to each project). I already posted some files but I still have to upload more than 30 projects and demos. Btw, there are two very interesting demos I couldn't find :- the flipping coin- the roadmap by Alrobin (i'm not sure?). (I already find the Lin Evan's one).If you guys could help me to find the threads, I would really appreciate. Thanks ! Hi Dom,This may be the one on the coin you are looking for - fourth thread down on this link:http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....l=morgan+dollarLin Quote

It's called "Rio Guadalquivir. It's about 40 MbThe problem I experienced seems to be associated with my machine. Because when I tried to upload via my wifes computer, there was no problem. You might guess how embarassing that was! but as she is angling for a 2nd dress, could not gloat too much! I get a really odd situation when I try uploading. The upload starts and almost immediatel breaks off, enen though my broadband remains connected. Quote
thedom Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I'm downloading your file right now... If I like it, can I store it on my website with all other demos ?Btw, I noticed that you keep having problem with "quoting" people. You have to understand that this is bbcode : a citation has to start with (quote) and has to ends with (/quote) to make it works. (replace the '(' and ')' with '[' and ']')Example :I have to got to the store to buy a gift to my wife ! Quote
JohnFeg Posted July 18, 2006 Author Report Posted July 18, 2006 Dominique, I think I have completely misunderstood the purpose of "Quotations" in fact, I must be honest, for I'm still not entirely sure about this BB text thing.Give me another kick if I mess up again.Kind regardsJohn Quote
thedom Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I've managed to upload it to Beechbrook. It's called "Rio Guadalquivir.Wow, great great slideshow !Perfect use of several effects... including road map. I noticed that you have the same "white thin edge" problem that I had with .png file too. I'm a little bit surprised with the size of your slideshow (46,1Mb !). But I guess it's because you used only .png files... Anyway, I love it ! So, can I host your demo on my site ?And if I could host the PTE project, it would be even nicer. So, what do you think ? thedom Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Btw, Ken, Lin, thank you for telling me where are the demos I was looking for. They are hosted on my site now. I still have a lot of files to upload but it's a work in progress. Hmmm, I'm looking for another demo : it is a demo (no idea of the author) with about 30 or 40 objects (like big icons) moving at the same time on the screen to illustrate the possibility for PTE to manage with a lot of objects beeing PZR.(No Lin, it's not your puzzle demo already hosted on my site too... )Let me know if somebody can find it... Thanks. Quote

Ken Cox Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Dom is it this onePromohttp://www.avdigifoto.nl/download.htmlby Gillio Quote
thedom Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 No, this is not the one I'm looking for but thank you very much for your search.Dagrace, I already knew the JPD demo (really excellent !) and I was planning to host it on my site. You're right, it's a perfect illustration of the independence of the objects.Ken,I didn't know "yours" but I think I will host it too because it's very nice too.Don't you think it's funny that french people are so involved in slideshows and are quite talented... May be the "french touch". We lost the soccer world championship... but we are good in other things ! Quote
Ken Cox Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 domwhat about jpd's test of objectshttp://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....t=ST&f=2&t=4379ken Quote
JohnFeg Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 So, can I host your demo on my site ?And if I could host the PTE project, it would be even nicer. So, what do you think ?Dominique,Firstly, have I made the "quote" correctly this time?I'd be more than delighted for you to host this demo. How do you want me to send the PTE project? You are correct in thinking the size is due to using PNG files. But, in addition, I had to make the main map JPG 3000 x 2200 px in order that the text remained legible when zoomed in.One mistake I made, that contributed to the size was in making the "background map" (which really only needed to be a narrow strip following the river's course) also a 3000 x 2200px PNG.I did this to ensure accurate registration. Since then I have found that registration can accurately be achieved by including, on the 2 images to be aligned, small dots on one image and small circles on the other. These can be, either:a) just out of frame cloned away in photoshop once alignment has been made.Incidentally, for the map, The text itself made excellent alignment markers.John Quote
thedom Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 John,Your show (the EXE) is now avalaible on my site :http://thefreedom.free.fr/share/comment.php?dlid=44This way, even if it is not avalaible on Beechbrook in a couple of weeks, people will still have the ability to download it.For the PTE Project, I think you could upload it on MegaUpload :http://www.megaupload.com/I never used it but I'm quite sure it's free.Bad news, you will probably have to use your wife's computer. PS: your "quote" is now perfect. domwhat about jpd's test of objectshttp://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....t=ST&f=2&t=4379kenKen,I didn't know this demo and I find it very interesting. An other file to upload on my site ! Thanks Ken. Quote
