thedom Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Hi all,I need to include videos in my slideshow. I would like :- no window being visible when lauching the video- background music continues to play during the video- the PTE continues to run at the end of the videoCould you please tell me what solution (if any) exist to do it ? Thanks for your help. Quote
boxig Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Try to use "ShowVideoPTE - Version 2.0".If you want the show to continue when video ends, then simply add the time of the video to the transition time. You can find the utility here. Quote
thedom Posted June 20, 2006 Author Report Posted June 20, 2006 Thank you so much !!!I already had a look at the readme and it seems that it is exactly what I was looking for... I guess I will need HideShowTaskBar... or TaskBarUtility ?Did anybody already tried ShowVideoPTE - Version 2.0 ? Anyway, I'm gonna try those utilities and give feedback. Thanks again boxig ! Quote
boxig Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 There is "HideShowTaskBar" by Marcovelo (forum member) and "TaskBarUtility" by me. See which one will fit your needs best (if you need). That will be nice to hear some feedback about ShowVideoPTE - Version 2.0 Quote
thedom Posted June 20, 2006 Author Report Posted June 20, 2006 That will be nice to hear some feedback about ShowVideoPTE - Version 2.0 Boxig,I make a test with pte v4.48 (because "run external application" is not avalaible in v5 yet ) and...it works perfectly well !I succeeded to launch several videos from my slideshow. Two questions though :- is it possible to position a movie on your screen in % (and not in pixel)- is it possible to change the width and the height of the movie in % (or at least in pixel). If not, do you plan (if feasible ) to include those improvements because right now, it is dependant of the screen resolution. I think it would be great and would follow v5 improvements (which is not screen resolution dependant any more). Anyway, even like this, thank you very much for this wonderful utiity ! Quote
boxig Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 is it possible to change the width and the height of the movie in % (or at least in pixel)Not in % .... see the readme file these lines:On First line: Width of your show if not full screen. If full screen write zero (0).On Second line: Height of your show if not full screen. If full screen write zero (0).Basically what you ask is possible to add to new version but unfortunately I am too busy now to finish a project in due time. When I will finish my project I will add those features.Thank you for your comments about the utility.boxig Quote
thedom Posted June 21, 2006 Author Report Posted June 21, 2006 Not in % .... see the readme file these lines:On First line: Width of your show if not full screen. If full screen write zero (0).On Second line: Height of your show if not full screen. If full screen write zero (0). boxig,I don't see these lines in the readme. I only saw that you can position your videos not in center with "Vidset.ini" (and it works perfectly) but nothing about width and height.May be it's because i didn't download Version 2.0 of ShowVideoPTE ? On your page http://www.thailandphotoalbum.com/, i didn't see "ShowVideoPTE - Version 2.0", only "ShowVideoPTE". Is it really the v2 or a previous version ?And do you have any idea of when you will have time to add the features ? Thanks. Quote
Ken Cox Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 the original program had 2 componentsthe one on his site at present has 4 componentsken Quote
thedom Posted June 21, 2006 Author Report Posted June 21, 2006 the original program had 2 componentsthe one on his site at present has 4 componentsken Thank you Ken for taking time to answer.Btw, I am blind or are the 4 components (=parameters ?) not mentionned in the readme ? And could be please confirm that the 4 parameters you can set for each video have to be on the same line in the "Vidset.ini" file and are the following :x position, y position, width, height Thanks. Ken Cox Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 I just looked at the contents of the zip2 in the old 4 in the currenti did not unzip them i wouldnt know how to use the programs/or need to so i did not go furthersometimes Granot forgets some of his creations and has to be reminded by forum members )ken Quote
boxig Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 sometimes Granot forgets some of his creations and has to be reminded by forum membersThat's more then true.Sorry, I really don't remember and when I tried to look for the project I could not find it (which means that I can not make any changes unless I write the whole utility again). These days I am very busy to finish the new version of my Thai dictionary but when it will be done I will try to find the project in my CDs archive.thedom,Then I suspect the version on my web site is 1 and not 2. Sorry for that.Ken,Do you mean version 2 was not released ?Maybe I did it with changes it for a certain forum member by request and forgot to upload. to my siteGranot Quote
thedom Posted June 21, 2006 Author Report Posted June 21, 2006 Ok, I understand the meaning of "components" now.And yes, you're right, there are 4 components in the zip : - Deletevidtmp.exe- ShowVideoPTE.exe- Vidset.ini- Readme.txtI set the 4 parameters on the same line in the "Vidset.ini" (x position, y position, width, height) but didn't succeed. The two last parameters don't have any effect. But I'm not surprised because of the instructions granot gave me which are :On First line: Width of your show if not full screen. If full screen write zero (0).On Second line: Height of your show if not full screen. If full screen write zero (0).Those parameters seems to be on different line, may be in an other file.Granot, I really need your help ! (or somebody who already did it). Quote
Ken Cox Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Dominiquewe will have you understanding the english language yet:)are you confused yet -- i know i am -- maybe if you write to Lumenlux he can help you, he uses Granot's proggies quite a bitLumenLux@do-some-good.comsorry i cant help you moreken Quote
thedom Posted June 21, 2006 Author Report Posted June 21, 2006 These days I am very busy to finish the new version of my Thai dictionary but when it will be done I will try to find the project in my CDs archive. Thanks granot, hope you will find it.Because, if it's not a good news for me, I guess it's close to a catastrophy for you if all your work dissapeared... Ken,I just wrote a mail to Lumenlux as you suggested. Thanks for the info. I keep my fingers crossed... Quote
boxig Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 thedomFrom your and Ken's description I see now that you have version 1. I can send you version 2, maybe it will fit you better.Where do you want me to send it ?Granot Quote
thedom Posted June 22, 2006 Author Report Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks Granot, I received your ShowVideoPTE version 2.But there are still some options I can't make work :- with this v2, I only can play a single video by slideshow.if I run ShowVideoPTE a second time in the same slideshow, it runs the same video- I can't play it full screen even if I put 0 on first and second line in VideoSettings.iniThe only way I found to play it fullscreen is to display control buttons (1 in the fifth line) and click on fullscreen- I can't change the height and width of the video, whatever values I put, the video keeps its original size- there is a grey rectangle which appears at the end of the video- I can't play a .mov file. The same grey rectangle appears in place of the video and stays on screen (no video at all).- The TaskBar appears quickly at the end of the video (and I run HideTaskBar.exe at the first slide of my show)Are you sure it's really the last version ? I noticed that "Deletevidtmp.exe" is not included in the zip. I saw that there is a thread called "ShowVideoPTE, Run multi videos" that you started on February 2006.After several improvements you made Granot, it seems that the utility ran perfectly well at the end.JPD, I saw that you make a lot of tests and seemed pleased with this utility.Did you by chance kept the last version. If so, could you (or anybody else) please upload the utility ?Thanks. Quote
Ken Cox Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Domon boxig's page http://www.thailandphotoalbum.com/seeVideo Utility Add movie to your photo album slideshow. 566 when the download starts the file is called"DrVideoPTE.exe"it may be the proggie you want -- but it may not be it is a 2003 issue and has an extensive readmeken Quote
thedom Posted June 22, 2006 Author Report Posted June 22, 2006 Ken,Thanks a lot for taking time to try find an alternative solution for me.But unfortunately, I already tried DrVideoPTE and it doesn't fit my need (you only can play a single video and the video is played on a windowed mode). But I don't loose my hope.I noticed that JPD has not posted on a forum for a long time.May be he's in vaccation. But I think I have more than 50% chance that he still has the last version.JPD, come back here ! Anyway, thanks again Ken. Quote
boxig Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 thedomNow that you remind me I remember I worked a lot on this utility with SteveF and JPD, and there were many changes, but as you said both were satisfied at the end. I am sorry to say that is all I remember (a bit senile I guess). The best is to ask both members to send you the version they have and even ask them "how to" because I do not have the project to check how the utility works. I know it sounds strange but you can't fight memory.Sorry I can't help more in this point.Granot Quote

You're right Granot, I think it's the best option.I will send them a PM, even if SteveF's last post was on Mar 1 2006. My hope is more on JPD. Thanks again for your answer and for your great utilities (even if some of them are a little bit useless now that there is v5 ).Good luck for the project you're working on (PTE related ?). Quote

Good luck for the project you're working on (PTE related ?).Dominique, did you ever resolve this issue satisfactorilly?I'm working on a new project and would dearly like to open the show with a short video. The idea is to use a "movie" sequence, generated in Google Earth, to illustrate the translocation from one geographical location to another, half way round the globe.Incidentally, before I recklessly splash out 20 dollars! upgrading Google Earth, I'd very much appreciate hearing from anyone, who has used the Google Earth Movie Facility, their views on the quality of the video material and the practicality of my plan.John Quote

JohnFeg Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 John i dont think the $20 plus version gives movie the pro does but it is $200 for the featureThanks for that Ken, but, you're right, it's $200, for the version I need. So! another good idea bites the dust.I'll have a try at a sort of work round. See what I can cobble together using screen shots stitched together. I have an application called "Panorama Factory" with which I've had good results. I'll not get an opportunity to play untill next week, a gathering of the clans is in effect!, but I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.Best wishesJohn Quote
