Lost Sound in PTE

Suddenly I have lost all sound (playback) in my PTE shows. When I run a show I get this message:

It might be something to do with 'file associations' but I haven't got a clue how to check this.

Any help will be appreciated.

test your sounds with directx panel

start/run/dxdiag

test yor sounds in windows control panel

try playing somebody else's show

play an mp3 file

windows sounds are

C:\WINDOWS\Media

REBOOT

try again

Hi Ken,

I have tried the things that you suggest and everything is reported as being OK.

I get sound OK from other programs, e.g. Audition, Media Monkey but I still get nothing from PTE.

I am getting frustrated with this now, so am going to bed - maybe the little fairies will visit in the night and fix it.

My sound problem is solved!

It seems that the latest Microsoft Auto Updates caused a change to my Control Panel settings and set the 'Sounds' to 'No Sound'

Contol Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Sounds. In the 'Sound Schemes' box I re-set to 'Windows Default' and everything was back to normal.
