fotoman Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 I just started using the software and the slide portion is super. My problem is that music skips when using .wav files. This happens often. It will also just stop playing and squeel while the slide show goes on. I use Windows Media Player and have not been able to make MP3 files play. Any help out there? Quote
Guest guru Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Hi Fotoman! Welcome in new forum!Yes, *.wav files are often a problem, because we've noticed PTE doesn't like large files, either in pictures and in sound. Much better to use mp3 format for the sound; even at a very high quality (e.g. 192 Kb/sec) mp3 files are much smaller than wavs. You say you are not able to make mp3. It is very easy with a suitable software, like free Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net). Start with a good quality encoding setting, typically 128 Kb/sec, joint stereo; if music is not so complex, you can also have good results at 64 Kb.Good luck! And if you'll need again some help, please write: here you'll always find somebody able to give you a good advice! Quote
boxig Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 Hi Fotoman,You can use the Free "ACM Station" which convert WAV to MP3 in seconds and gives good results. You have to know that the quality of MP3 is not like WAV but don't worry, only dogs can hear the difference, most people don't. Quote
Guest guru Posted December 15, 2002 Report Posted December 15, 2002 No boxig, not only dogs, but cats too, and mouses (I think), and bats... Quote
boxig Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 Well Guru, I know because I have 2 dogs but have no mouses. How many mouses you have ? (just joking).Do you think "Audacity" is better than "ACM Station" ?and since I know you'r expert in sounds, is there any way to convert WAVto MID ? I know there is a Dos program only. And, why AU is not popular ?Thanks(I realy think this forum have to be divided to sections if it's going to be big as the former, and better to start when the baby is young). Guest guru Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 Hi Boxig! Here are my answers:1. How many mouses you have ?- Two mouses, a trackball and three cats (alas!). I'm not joking...2. Do you think "Audacity" is better than "ACM Station" ?- Never used ACMStation... Sorry!3. Is there any way to convert WAV to MID ?- Yes, I tried several software, but with very poor results.4. And, why AU is not popular ?- Ah, you must ask Bill [Gates] for this...P.S. - I realy think this forum have to be divided to sections if it's going to be big as the former, and better to start when the baby is young.Totally agree. If you don't correct the baby, then it will be too late... Quote
