LumenLux Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Journey into Autumn linked here to Beechbrook. This is an attempt to utilize the excellent template from JPD and the very clear instruction in the Readme file by the Dom. As I returned from a hike in the autumn woods, I found this template would be a fun way to play and present some of my photos from the day. This Version 5 Beta is so amazing. And a genius template just opens a billion more possibilities. Using the template is incredibly simple yet it opens many more options and questions. Before asking my questions, I would like to see what other members would observe and comment. I will say, some aspects appear to me when using the actual photos, differently than when running the (teaching) template with the numbered cube faces.Thank you Jean-Pierre and Dom. Quote
thedom Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Lumenlux,IMHO, you slideshow looks like to much as a promo show for JPD's template.I think the 3D cube is too present. In my opinion, you could play with the cube, put it in different corners, zoom it, pan it, etc... and not on each slide. Our attention is polarized on the cube and we don't see your beautiful pictures any more. And the transition beetwen the cubes are too abrupt. But I like the way you introduce new photos deformed and rotating. The part I prefer is the end of your slideshow (3 last slides) with a good integration of the cube with your pictures.I hope you won't think my comment is too cruel... LumenLux Posted October 2, 2006 Author Report Posted October 2, 2006 Dom, I agree with all your observations on this presentation. Still, it is a fun way for me to learn a little bit more of using V5 features. Your instructions and JPD's template are very helpful in that regard. I think there are many of us that can work from such templates but cannot originate such possibilities on our own. I think many of us can come up with some nice uses when we have a "launching point" such as the templates. Refining our "fun" will continue I hope. And the transition beetwen the cubes are too abrupt. This was probably the thing that bothered me the most. It seemed more obvious when I used the actual photos than when I watched the demo with the numbered cube faces. I changed nothing in that regard, but I guess the changing of photos just seems more pronounced than the changing of the numbered surfaces. I would like to know how to make it so no new photo appears while it is on the "front" surface of the cube.I also tried applying fade transitions rather than the no-transition used by the template. But the fade transition goes against the inherent concept of the rotating cube faces. For Journey Into Autumn I would prefer the cube rotation to be slower. But it was not readily apparent how to do that as I think JPD had advised to not change the timeing? Quote
JPD Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Bonjour Robert,I am happy that you used the cube template, but I see I have to work on it, because it freeze my PC at the first try after 2 minutes and the second time, I succeed to see it, but at the end, I had all the PZR effects not at all smooth, that probably means there are too much calculations for my PC.I don't really understand, because I used 3 cubes at the same time without any problem. May be the size of the cube, I have to look were is the problem. I am working on a polyhedron of 12 faces which turns without problem at the same time as a cube on the same PC. Difficult to understand. What is very interesting is the possibilites to use templates from a library that you demonstrate (thanks to Hawk for his Copy and paste method). So probably I'll complete the library with others effects. As Dom, I think the cube is too much used in this show, but it's always the same question : how to use new effects, and the answer isn't so easy as we can think.
