ksf Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Hi Geoff,If I had any criticism it would be that I don't think you have enough separation between the volume of your voiceover and the background music as I struggled to pick up some of the words. The gaps between the sentences also felt a little long in places.Overall, I found it a very pleasing, relaxing, sequence to watch though I would have liked to see more of the close-up flower shots interspersed throughout the sequence rather than just shown at the end. ronwil Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Geoff, this was a sequence of soothing photography and required a backing to match. I don't think the voice over helped in this respect. The verse did not relate in my opinion and in no way should it have been broken into sections, leaving one wondering when the next extract was coming. A few years ago, a colleague asked me to record a poem for him and it took me several goes before I could match the mood of the verse. The first time I heard it in the finished sequence was at a regional AV competition and, like you, my colleague had separated my recording into parts and its affect was lost. Ron [uK] Quote
stonemason Posted March 13, 2007 Author Report Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks for your comments Keith and Ron. Keith I agree that the spoken words could have been a bit louder compared to the background music in places, but I'm glad you enjoyed the sequence overall. Ron I agree also that if this was a competition AV then I would not have broken the poem into sections, and would have approached someone with a voice more suited to reading poetry than my own. However the AV was made as part of a collection of AV's for showing to non photographic and non AV audiences, where I have to say that it has been very well recieved. Whether that says something about the what we as AV workers demand of our own and other peoples AV's could be an interesting debate. Thank you both for your honest comments as it is the only way we will advace our ability.RegardsGeoff Quote
neil Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks for letting everyone see your slideshow. As a newcmer I hope you don't mind if I make comments. Some of the images are excellent and I found the whole show nicely paced (I find many far too slow)However my personal preference would be music and sound effects, but definitely NO voiceover. With best wishesNeil Quote
rakn Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Hi Geoff,I just watched yor show. Nice images, especailly the flower closeups. And the images almost filled my widescreen monitor, I like that. Many shows use a lot of the screen area for framing which, in my opinion, reduces the overall impression. Having English a my second language, I had some difficulties to pick up your words though.Ragnar Quote
