Folks,

I have recently completed a short show with Beta 10 and am like everybody else delighted with the improved PAZ, particularly the soft landings and take-off.

However I have a problem, which I don’t think, has anything to do with Beta10 as I am sure I have seen it referred to in the dim and distant past.

I am getting quite a lot of “shimmer” both in Pan and Zoom. I do not think I have over sharpened (my normal settings for USM in PS are:- Amount 100-150%, Radius 0.3-0.7 and Threshold 0). Images that have no PAZ have no “shimmer”.

Any suggestions?

Regards

John

P.S. I will not be able to try anything out till next week as I will be away for a few days but will respond on my return.

John,

In such cases (non-linear Panning) please use only Bicubic (not Bicubic Sharper) resizing and don't apply Unsharp mask. Maybe it's necessary even apply slight Blur filter.

I often use the pans.

I reduce the image-size to 1080 high.

In my experience, it also depends on the program.

When I reduce the images with ThumbsPlus (Bicubic), I also have a shimmer/flicker.

My Corel PhotoPaint 11 makes a better job.

There a also can use the function smoothing, when I save the picture as JPG.

If I choose 5%, there is no shimmer/flicker on panning .

With best regards

Andrea
