davegee Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Hi Igor,Would it be possible in a future version to be able to "distort" images? At present we can alter height and/or width. How about narrowing the top of an image while making the bottom of the image wider? What I would like to be able to do is create the shapes necessary to do do "Star Wars" type intros within PTE and not have to do it in PS etc. That's just one example.I have mentioned this before - is it still impossible?DaveG Quote

Lin Evans Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 I like that idea too. It may be difficult to achieve, but if anyone can do it this team will be able to. You do know that it is possible to "distort" an image with the parent/child/grandchild relationship? It's not, of course the same as what you are suggesting but it does give you the ability to rotate on the Z axis for specialized effects. It really isn't too amenable to doing exactly what you have in mind because to do what you want requires precision calculations but is helpful for doing things such as TomUK wanted to do with his helicopter, i.e., make the rotor blade rotate in a horizontal position rather in the vertical position as would happen if you didn't have the ability to distort shapes. You may have seen one of my samples of this earlier, but in case you didn't here's a new quick little example of manipulating an image to give the appearance of XY and Z rotation.http://www.lin-evans.net/pte/distort.zipBest regards,Lin Quote
Lin Evans Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 Even if PTE would "support" MOV format or QTVR format it would be possible to include 360 degree virtual reality slides in a manual slideshow. This wouldn't allow "creation" of the show, but would allow an MOV or QTVR created in other software to be used in a PTE slideshow. For example, you can play MOV files in Irfanview. The Flash implementation could be used to play them on DVD's but there would be no controls, of course. But with a manual slideshow it would be possble for the executable user to manually zoom in, zoom out, click on hotspots to call yet other MOV or stills, then return via hotspots. We use this technology for displaying the inside of art galleries and for real-estate demos, etc.LinI thought I should include this under distortion of images. Some day I wish PTE would render cubic panoramics. The latest trend is flash 9 players can display cubic spherical panoramas. I think real performance is possible and would look amazing on large screen tv.Info about spherical/cubic projection.http://www.student.nada.kth.se/~nv91-gta/OpenGL/panorama/Sample flash 9 full screen panoramashttp://www.immervision.com/en/multimedia/m...dia_gallery.phpTom Quote

Lin Evans Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Hi Alain,Very nice tour! Antarctic? I see even there - recycling - LOL. I see lots of SnowCat tracks but no vehicles?? Signs in English. I does show the nice features of an MOV/QTVR type virtual reality. Kalain Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Hi Alain,Very nice tour! Antarctic?Yes, try with GoogleEarth : 75°S 123°E / Alt : 3600mI see even there - recycling - LOL. I see lots of SnowCat tracks but no vehicles??There is only few vehicules but as it doesn't snow a lot (less than 5cm/year) a snow track path can be seen for a long time. Signs in English.the station is performed by French and Italian people. But scientists are from every where. Here some more informations about it : http://www.concordiabase.eu/I does show the nice features of an MOV/QTVR type virtual reality. It would be nice to be able to display one in a slideshow. Here is some of them here : http://kalain.pierre.free.fr/ (the 2 last links)I made them in January while there with beta 8a.At this time, I didn't know how to use PTE V5.00, so the easiest way for me was to adapt and use examples from TheDom Sharing Place.Alain Quote
