I use P2E for our teaching program, and to let customers choose their images on a CD. But I can't find out how to stp the auti advance from changing to the next slide. I could put a long display time, but is there a better way?

Yes, there is an other way to do it:

in "Customize Slide" | "Main" tab : select "Stop at the end of this slide" in the list (by default, "no actions after this slide" is selected).
