pushu Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 I'm sure the info I am looking for is already posted someplace but I cannot locate it. If someone could direct me there it would be much appreciated Where is the tutorial for burning a dvd with 5.0 deluxe? Right now I am creating the dvd within the program but it takes me about 6 hours to burn the dvd. Is this right? should it take this long? I think the show is about 2 gig in size but I could be wrong about that. I have always resized the images correctly, the show has about 300 images, and my sound trac is an mp3 created in audacity. I may be confused about creating the avi file. Is this step necessary or can I go directly to create dvd?thanks for any help Quote
Ken Cox Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 show i did was 300 slides, 8 mp3's = 1.5 gb +- expected sizetook +- 1 1/2 hrs to make folders and burn2.8 ghz intel, 1 gb ram, 1 gb swap and 256 video card ramdone directly from the pte with video builderken Quote
Carol Steele Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 The DVD shows that I have been doing generally contain 4 or 5 chapters and a total of around 400 to 600 images. Soundtrack is 4 to 6 .wma files (around one soundtrack per chapter). File size is generally 1 to 2 Gb.Once I have saved each pte file (one for each chapter) I simply hit the DVD button and proceed from there. Once I have the Title Page made up (about 5 mins) it takes around 40 mins to create an ISO file and burn the DVD - and I simply go away and do something else whilst that happens. If I need copies, I simply use the ISO file which I created - in which case it takes around 15 mins to burn, compare and verify (I burn at 16x).There is no need to produce separate AVI files like you did in 4.x.Just make sure you set up the temp files on a partition/drive with plenty of free space as the temp files can get quite large. pushu Posted July 4, 2007 Author Report Posted July 4, 2007 so it would appear that burning a dvd should not take 6 hours. I have a good processer- 2 gig of ram and good video card. there must be a problem with something? Can someone direct me to a tutorial about burning a dvd with 5/0 deluxe? Quote
nobeefstu Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 I may be confused about creating the avi file. Is this step necessary or can I go directly to create dvd?thanks for any helpIm not aware of any official tutorial for burning in the Video Builder as of this date. You do not need to create a avi file ... just go to the Video Builder to burn your DVD.On the final check list you will be presented a few checkbox options. Select Burn DVD Disc and any others if you feel you require them. The more boxes checked will require more proceessing time. This is all relative to the speed of which your pc can read and write huge amounts of data to the Disc and hard drive. You may want to start with just Burn DVD Disc and try the others at a later time to see how it impacts your process time.I have been researching to make a list of basic settings/requirements for burning DVD.Possibile slow downs: - Temp and compile output is on the same hardrive as Windows and the Windows swap file. Windows may start swapping in which case it will drastically slow down compile. - Use of any type of compression on drive - Use of virus checking that checks all data Speed up the process: - Place temp and output directories each on different drives if possible ... not only on the local drive/partition Quote
