Ray,

1280x720 standard allows both modes:

- 25/30 frames (PAL/NTSC)

- 50/60 frames (PAL/NTSC)

60p means full 60 frames.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720p

Igor,

Yes it _allows_ both - my only point was that 25 and 30 fps are more common.

Hello Potwnc, (Ray)

Your DVD arrived today and it played OK on my Blu Ray player. The quality is excellent, much better that a normal DVD burned with either PTE or Nero. Thankyou for taking the time to produce this HD-DVD for me.

You have inspired me to experiment with the burning of High Definition DVD's and at the moment I am testing some of my own. I create an HD AVI file using PTE, I then burn this as an AVCHD disc using Nero version 8. So far my results have been very good but I feel that they will get better once I have mastered all the varios settings.

Thanks again for all your help and encouagement.

Hello Potwnc, (Ray)

Thankyou for taking the time to produce this HD-DVD for me.

Ron,

A more complete response now that I'm back... what I sent you is not an HD-DVD. It would not play back on an HD-DVD player. It is an AVCHD DVD... the physical disc was a normal, single layer, 4.7GB DVD. (It was a DVD+R but will be recognized as a DVD-ROM because I bitset it to that format.) The file structure was close to - but not exactly the same as - that found on commercial Blu-ray discs, which is why it will play back on most Blu-ray players.

Make sure you understand the differences among these different, but related, terminologies as it can be very confusing to others if we misuse the terminology.
