Almark
If you have a NVDIA GeForce, or GeForce M (formerly known as GeForce Go) or a NVIDIA Quadro Graphics card, then NVIDIA Pure Video may be for you. For more info check out:http://www.nvidia.com/page/purevideo.htmlI have a Geforce Go card in my laptop so I tried PureVideo out and it does appear to produce much better reproduction when playing avi movies. But whether it produces better playback of PTE movies I am not so sure. Playback has always been good. At first I thought it was better, especially on slow transitions, but I might be imagining it. I suppose this is like a upgrade of the graphics card drivers in a way, albeit this one costs money!http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder.html30 day trial here:http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder_1.02-223-trial.html
Conflow
Mark,I think we need to clarify an issue brought up in a previous Post,viz-Title:-PTE.5xx and LaptopsThe majority of Lo-Cost Laptops use an 'Intergrated Motherboard'where the Video-Chipsets are soldered in and one can't fit anadvanced Video Card such as Mark has described, never mind theNVidia Pure Video System. In effect Marks' Post is directed at those who have a 'Hi-End Portable'with a good Graphics Card where 'NVidia Pure Video' might work well. However,so we don't offer false expectations to those who have alreadypurchased a (lo-cost) 'Off-the Shelf Laptop' with Intergrated Graphics please do not try this Program.Brian.Conflow. Almark
Good point Brian, not just a high end portable, but also ant desktop with a NVIDIA card. It supports about desktop graphics cards and only 10 laptop graphics cards. It just so happens that my desktop has a GPU has is not compatable, but my laptop is. Supported cards and features:http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/11036/PureVi..._Comparison.pdf
Conflow
Mark,Many thanks for the clarification ~ its just that so many PTE Users fall for the Shop "Sales Pitch" ~ whereafter the bitter realisation becomes evident that their New Laptop is simply not up to the job ~(not before they blame PTE firstly). It's with that in mind that I'm trying to remind experienced Members to be vigilent and offer a little advice to those thinking of buying a Laptop suitable for PTE.5xxBrian.Conflow.
