ldofout
I have moved my image files from one drive to another because of space. How can I update this information the path in a current presentation and can I do all of the images in one go or will I have to do each one individually? fh1805
Hi Idofout,Welcome to the forum! There are no facilities within PTE to do what you want. If you are an experienced and confident computer user you could try the approach below.READ ALL OF THIS POST BEFORE STARTING TO DO ANYTHING1. Copy the PTE project file (the one with the .pte extension) and call it something like yourprojectname-old.pte2. Launch Notepad (or your favorite text file editor)3. Open your original project file (the one called yourprojectname.pte) in Notepad4. Carefully work your way through changing every instance of the old drive and path details to be a reference to the new drive and path details5. Save the PTE project file using its original name6 Check the project file out by launching PTE and opening the project file7. Repeat the above steps for each of your project filesIf you screw up badly, delete the PTE project file (the one called yourprojectname.pte) and rename the copy that you took (yourprojectname-old.pte) back as the real name.If the above doesn't make any sense to you - DO NOT TRY IT! Instead, wait and see what other advice you receive from the forum members.
Davidh12
IdofutI have found a good plan if you want to move files is in the main PTE program click 'Files', 'Create backup in zip'. This will create a zip file with everything you need for the show slides music .PTE file You can copy to the other drive and unzip. Perhaps you could temporarilly copy the files back to where they were, do the process, then delete them again.David
Ronniebootwest
This problem has been raised so many times over the years. Please, please heed the advice given above and ALWAYS make either a Template or a Back up in zip of every project that you make with PTE. You will then not have to face the problem of missing files.Ron
xahu34
Idofout,A simple method for keeping your shows in good order:Copy (not move) the candidates (images) for your new slideshow into a single new folder.Create your show and during this process, save all versions (pte-files) into this particular folder.Resample the copied images to appropriate pixel dimensions (without renaming them, probably apply some sharpening). Delete the images in the new folder which are no longer needed. You may move this folder at any place on your computer.Kind regardsXaver H.Munich
