stevehurst Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I have just downloaded the latest 5.6 beta1. I am having problem creating the HD video or video for iPhone. It goes through the process, the progress bar completes to 100% I click on done but no file is produced. Is this not implemented yet or have I done something wrong? The slide show only has about 3 pictures in it. I am using Vista Home premium. Quote
stevehurst Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 That's what I thought, but there is no file - nothing - just the original pte fileAfter the Creating file for is done I get an image of a blue disc with a green tick. Click Done and then nothing. Quote
Lin Evans Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Hi Steve,Some media players do not recognize mp4 as a file extension - even some Windows Media Players even though they will play the mp4 format. Search for *.mp4 on your c: drive and it probably will be there.best regards,LinThat's what I thought, but there is no file - nothing - just the original pte fileAfter the Creating file for is done I get an image of a blue disc with a green tick. davegee Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Some time ago Lin advised loading of MPEG4 codec using ACE CODEC SET.I just did this and the PROGRESS BAR now comes up immediately and I have created a LOW QUALITY - SHORT HD Video.More tests continue.DaveG Quote
davegee Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I am now up to 2 mins 15 secs of HIGH QUALITY 1280x720 and it's looking GOOD!Now to extend time at the same quality and size.....................DaveG Quote
Igor Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I would like to ask other users who have problem with creating video in the new beta - please wait a little and don't install 3d-party codec packs. Or we will not able to check up how an updated beta works Quote
davegee Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 10 minutes of High Quality 1280x720 video made and looks really good. That's enough to prove that my problem was the incorrect, corrupt or missing MPEG4 Codec.I will leave it at that for now.EDIT:Sorry Igor, I posted without seeing your request - the codec I have used was from the ACE CODEC SET and I had already done this.DaveG Quote
Adda Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I also have problems to make HD-Videos.Outputted files are very small. When I try to play them, players crashes.Best regardsAndreas Quote
Igor Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Dave,In new "Create HD video for PC..." feauture we use built-in video encoder and it's impossible to change it. I still have no idea why installing of external codec pack helped. Quote
Igor Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I just posted Beta 2:http://www.wnsoft.com/apr/apr-deluxe_beta.zip (6 MB)It should solve the problem with creating video. Quote
stevehurst Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 No still not producing any video files Quote
stevehurst Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 Just tried it on an old laptop running windows xp pro and it works fine. So either a problem with Vista Home premium or it is expecting some other software or something I have installed causing a problem - although I don't have much installed on this machine Quote
Igor Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Steve,Please make sure that you use Beta 2 (see caption of main window of PicturesToExe). Quote
stevehurst Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 Yes it's Beta 2 - I have actually uninstalled beta 1. I have rebooted as well. The title bar says beta 2 Quote
fh1805 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Igor,This isn't an issue with all Vista Home Premium systems. I've just downloaded beta 2, installed it, created a five slide, 30-second sequence and produced an mp4 file taking all the default values along the way. It was placed in the same folder as my PTE project file and was named the same as the PTE project file except for .mp4 instead of .pte as the file extension.I played it back using VLC Player and the quality is superb.regards,Peter Quote
davegee Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Peter,Your system is probably OK - BUT - I was able to do what you described when I originally had the problem. The real test is to do a MUCH longer show - 10 minutes - 20 minutes..I am now able to do as long a show as I wish (apparently) but it was not always so.I think that the giveaway sign is if the PROGRESS Bar appears almost immediately you are OK.DaveG Quote
denwell Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 PeterI thought you would be deep in preparation!I find VLC plays anything I care to throw at it - and it's FREEsee: VideolanDEN (NE UK) Quote
fh1805 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I also use VLC, after having it recommended to me by Lin Evans.regards,Peter Quote
