What new in Beta 8:

+ Fully rewritten shadow for objects. Now it has correct view for a long text object. And better visual quality.

! "Run application" options has moved to the last page of Project options (More tab).

+ Added new command "Run slideshow" to Project options | "More" tab and as an action for objects. This option highly recommended if you want to start another slideshow from current one and for building of menu. It will guarantee flawless start of next slideshow from current one. In fact a series of slideshows will work as one large slideshow that provides optimal memory usage.

+ Improvements in Objects and Animation window:

- Improved view of "Action on mouse click" list.

- Added new action "Run slideshow".

+ Updated Italian language file.

! "Disable F1 key to show help window" has moved to "Customize help window" dialog (Main menu | Project).

* Fixed bug of previous betas with incorrect size of objects created in Original size mode.

* Fixed crashing of the program at 99% of creating of H.264 video.

* Fixed various minor bugs in the main program of PicturesToExe.

What new in version 5.6:

+ Added export of slideshow as a video. (See Main menu -> Create)

- Export of HD video for playback on PC, Mac.

- Export of video for iPhone/iPod.

- Publish online on Youtube.

- Publish online on Vimeo with HD quality.

+ New 3D transition effects between slides:

- Added "Flip 3D" effect.

- Added "Swap 3D" effect.

- Reworked "Curling of page 3D" effect. Set large radius parameter to get completely new effects.

+ Improvements in Objects and Animation window:

- Mask objects for creating of special effects. You can apply several Masks to one image object.

- Music and sounds when you click "Play" button for preview.

- Added "Anti-shimmering (mipmapping)" option for Image and Text objects. This option prevents appearing of shimmering when object has zoom from small size to large size.

- Improved view of "Action on mouse click" list.

- Added new action "Run slideshow".

! "Original size" mode of objects has been replaced. Now use "Fixed size of slide (in pixels)" mode in Project options | Screen tab. And "Size/position in pixels" button in Common tab of object properties.

Congratulations on an excellent Beta 8.

The "Run Slideshow" has been eagerly awaited by many and I'm sure there will be a lot of feedback on this.

the included slide originally had 2 keyframes: At start and at transition point (8 sec.). I put the cursor to 00:07.943 and created the 3rd keyframe which automatically jumped to 00:08.000.

That's right. I have added only one exception - if another object has a keyframe at 00:07.943 you can insert keyframe for the first object at same time position (without jumping to nearest key place).

would it be possible to offer AES encryption of images using a key which is derived from a user defined password? This password has to be entered before running the show; maybe not a very comfortable, but a rather secure solution.

We think it would be too slow for realtime decrypting.

Realtime decryption using AES might cause problems. So, why not decrypting the images in advance (into some temporary folder, to be deleted when the show ends). I made a test with TrueCrypt. It took about 75 sec to decrypt a folder of size 1.5 GB with 35 subfolders and 1200 files (Athlon X2 5000+). A typical PTE show would be decrypted within a few seconds.

Moreover, as far as I know TrueCrypt is not the fastest program in terms of decryption speed. So, I think there are no problems to implement strong encryption in PTE.

Hi Igor,

In Beta 8 I am still not able to enter minus figures directly into the POSITION boxes in

"Size / Position in pixels of parent".

Have I missed something?
