Hi,

With the improvments in version 5.6, I was wondering if there would be a way to insert video clips into a slide show. I realze that a player would be needed to display the video. I thought that, perhaps the ability to launch an application at the end of a show might do that, but can't figure out how. A show could end where the clip is wanted and the appropriate application launched, but it would need to have a command line to play the desired video. I don't know of a video player that can do that. Then, after the clip played, the slide show would need to resume. That means that the video player would need to launch the next portion of the slide show at the end of the clip.

Does anyone know if something like this can be done? It would certainly be a neat feature in PTE if that were possible. Today's digital cameras can take fairly decent video clips. When I am photographing my grandchildren, I frequently intersperse the snapshots with short videos of the kids activities. I'd like to make a slide show and produce a DVD that includes both the stills and video clips and have it play all as one show.

Any ideas?

Hi Dave,

PTE does not support video clips within a sequence; only still images. I have no idea whether or not WnSoft have any plans to include such support in a future version.

Peter

Dave,

You might wish to contact Jean-Pierre Dollangère who recently created an amazing PTE presentation which did include a short video !

Bill,

Wasn't that an animated still image? I've never heard that PTE allows to include video objects (MP4, WMV, AVI etc.)

The video I saw was in his Mon Maitre AV. Quite a marvelous show !

I believe there is a link to it somewhere within the PTE forums, but I can't find it now

Thanks for the discussion on this topic. If you find the link to the slide show you mentioned, please post it here. I would love to see it and perhaps get some idea of how to do that. I have a point and shoot camera (Panasonic Lumix TZ5) that can take HD videos at 30 frames a second. The clips are quite good and it would be neat to be able to include them in a slide show. Most clips are too short to work as a stand alone video.

You need to keep in mind that JPD is a gifted mathematician and a major league wizard with Excel spreadsheets. I know that many of his amazing effects are achieved by applying mathematical formulae in Excel to generate the necessary parameters for PTE. I wouldn't be surprised if he also generates the lines of text for the PTE project file by writing Excel macros.

His genius is that of combining his mathematical knowledge with multiple computer-based disciplines into a creative whole that far surpasses anything that we could do with our limited abilities in just one or two of those areas.

He is a "one off".

Just like to add to Peters' comments above that JPD also has the "eye" of an artist.

Add this to his technical skills that Peter wrote about and you have one hell of a creative person, a true"one off" as Peter called him.

It is my belief that his PTE show, Mon Maitre, contains no video files (MP4, WMV, AVI etc.), but was done using only advanced PTE PZR techniques and Excel macros.

Perhaps JPD could comment on this for us.

Dave,

I don't believe it is possible currently to incorporate video files in a PTE AV.

... Don't believe it was animated...

Bill,

I think, you are right. The sequence with the girls in the left corner seems to show a video. Maybe it is a sequence of (still) images which were taken from a real video, and which have been scheduled within PTE at an appropriate frame rate. It would be nice if Jean-Pierre would give us an explanation.

This does come up from time to time, if Lin was about he would advise you better than I can, but the only option is to take your video and process it with a decompiler to create individual slides and then run them in PTE with a time interval to reflect the format of the original video. I have done this a couple of times and it works to some degree. If you do a search you are likely to find Lin's advice on the matter.
