Laszlo K
First time I wanted to use .Png file in my project and all was working fine, but I could not get rid of the transparency of the image. Whatever I was doing the background was still showing thorough the Png file.I had recreate the same image from a white ,black and a blue bacground by copy-paste on that color, than select the object and save as .Png.When I play the image in the Object-Animation window it is OK but when I play the same thing on the timeline it becomes less visible and more transparent. It becomes a shadow on a darker backgroung but gets better on a lighter image. The only thing that the image i wanted to use was the ceiling of the Chartre Cathedral and that is dark. What can I do to make it more visible.Regards Laszlo
Lin Evans
Hi Laszlo,If you would post the image or a link to the image perhaps we can help determine the problem. PNG images, like Compuserve GIF images "can" have transparency but that is not automatic. Any image such as a tiff or bmp or jpg can be saved as a PNG image and will have no transparency. The way you get transparency is to have more than one layer with the bottom layer being transparent. Then you can erase any part of the upper image and the part that remains is the transparent bottom layer. When you erase, the "opacity" of the eraser tool used to erase determines how transparent the image or part of the image becomes. If you post your image or a link to your image and tell us which part you want to be opaque and which part you want to be transparent, one of our forum members will help.Best regards,Lin

Lin Evans
Hi Laszlo,Though I can't see the executable (only the PNG sword), I have manipulated your file in Photoshop so that it is now a sword with PNG transparency surrounding it. I couldn't tell from the original how much transparency it actually had, but the one I have posted the link to below has 100% transparency other than the sword itself. If I understand correctly about what you wish to do, make this PNG file (link below) a child of the image, position and size the sword and you can then adjust its transparency anywhere from zero to one hundred percent.http://www.learntomakeslideshows.net/sample/pngsword.pngBest regards,Lin

In the Photo club that I'm the member of I tutor and teach a number of photoghraphers how to work with PTE and one of my demo was this, but was not working to expectations ( of my own )I also send you the address to the whole project:http://rapidshare.com/files/219767170/Project_4.exe.htmlThe goal of the project was to use a bank of 20 images that you can manipulate the way you please.Create show of 1 min 45 sec depicting peace and serenity. Repeate the show ( same images but you can remove or add 5 image using the original 20) and create another one of the same lenght depicting anger and or violance. Your variable is the order music and transitions SFX.I had to write this down so it is easier to see were I was coming from.Laszlo
Lin Evans
Hi Laszlo,I understand now what you are doing. Please zip up the PTE file and post it and I'll try to see why your opacity is less than 100%. I would set the opacity for the PNG file to 100% at least for the ending few seconds of the animation to avoid the transparent appearance.Best regards,Lin

It might help to know so the project save file can find the project easier.I use V 5.6 I'm sure that you have already figured out.I'm happy to be able to share mu stuff with someone who is willing to take on it.Thanks Laszlo
Lin Evans
Hi Laszlo,I see what your problem is now. You don't need a "mask" to do the animation - in fact you really don't "wan't" to use a mask at all for this. Just use the PNG file as an object and you will not have any more problems with opacity.Since a "mask" sees white and black as transparent and opaque to the file below, using the PNG object inside a mask renders opacity depending on the colors in the sword. Skip the mask entirely and just use the PNG file and control the transparency with the opacity control and everything will work fine.Best regards,Lin

It definetly makes sense. I will change it to be an object. As you can hear the audio, I wanted to have a sword fight for the duration of the audio but backed off because of the transparency issue.I'm sure you noticed that the single image PTE and the whole program hase to sword play on different images, well ,that is why. Thanks a lot you have been a great help.Have a good EasterLaszlo
